GOVERNMENT OFFERS 10% AIRFARE DISCOUNT FOR EID HOMECOMING PERIOD

COORDINATING Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto confirmed that the government would offer a 10% discount on flight tickets for the 2025 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period.

“The government will disburse stimulus for religious holidays, namely a flight price discount of around 10%,” he stated at the 2025 Economic Insights event in Jakarta on Wednesday (02/19), 2025.

According to Hartarto, the discount will be applicable to flights scheduled a week before Eid and a week after the holiday.

In addition to flight ticket discounts, Hartarto revealed that the government would provide toll tariff discounts.

Furthermore, the government is strengthening transportation infrastructure across land, sea, air, and rail to facilitate the smooth flow of Eid homecoming.

The minister remarked that to boost consumption, the government also plans to launch another National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas) Program and Every Purchase is Cheap (EPIC) Sale, offering discounts between 50% and 70%.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced eight policies to stimulate economic growth in the first quarter of 2025, including measures to leverage people’s purchasing power.

According to Hartarto, the government will persist in implementing strategic policies to foster national economic growth, including the 2025 Ramadhan-Lebaran stimulus, which includes discounts on airline tickets and toll rates, shopping discount programs such as 2025 Harbolnas, the 2025 EPIC Sales program, and BINA Diskon 2025.

He remarked that the economic stimulus is provided to maintain price stability while bolstering people’s resilience in anticipation of the National Religious Holidays (HBKN).

An economic observer from the Center of Economic and Law Studies (Celios), Nailul Huda, stated that discounts on airline tickets and toll rates during the Eid holiday could help drive the economy in homecoming destination areas.

Huda also highlighted that offering Eid discounts on public transportation could encourage a shift from private vehicles to options such as trains, planes, and buses. [antaranews]
