TOURISM MINISTRY: BALI OFFERS INTERESTING FITNESS EXPERIENCE FOR TOURISTS

THE MINISTRY of Tourism said that Bali is able to present an interesting fitness experience for tourists as it has a variety of hotels and resorts that offer complete wellness retreat programs.

“Bali has a variety of hotels and resorts that offer complete wellness retreat programs with a combination of modern and traditional treatments,” said Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure Development of the Ministry of Tourism, Hariyanto, in Jakarta, Thursday (02/20), 2025.

Hariyanto gave an example of an interesting fitness experience that can be found at Como Shambala Estate in Ubud with various spa facilities with traditional Balinese treatments, yoga studios and hot water treatments.

Then there is the award-winning REVIVO Wellness Resort in Nusa Dua, which is a premium choice for holistic healing, and there are many other classy and quality fitness service providers. Many of them work with local and international fitness practitioners to implement their programs.

In addition to the facilities, tourists can also enjoy the natural beauty and culture of Bali, which is widely known by the world community. Hariyanto said this was proven by Bali’s selection as runner-up for the Traveler’s Choice Awards Best of the Best 2025.

“This is the main capital for Bali in attracting tourists to come. In addition, the interest of tourists in the fitness and beauty market is very high, so it can have a good impact on the economic cycle,” he affirmed.

Citing data from the Global Wellness Institute (GWI), Indonesia had a market size for “Personal Care & Beauty” of US$7.63 billion in 2020. “Personal Care & Beauty” is ranked second after “Health Eating, Nutrition and Weight Loss” which reached US$13.9 billion.

According to him, it can be said that the interest of the Indonesian market in the “beauty” sector is very large, but unfortunately the exposure to promotions for beauty products and services from other countries is also very, very aggressive, so that many Indonesians look for services to improve their beauty abroad.

“This certainly increases the number of foreign exchange leakages for our country. Therefore, the Ministry of Tourism through the development of health tourism in Indonesia, has a mission to be able to keep Indonesians doing health services only in Indonesia, and attract foreign tourists to do health services in Indonesia,” Hariyanto added.

He concluded that this is certainly no exception for beauty services or aesthetics and fitness. We are sure that with the increasing exposure of aesthetic fitness services in Indonesia, especially Bali can be a new magnet for domestic and foreign tourists to come to Indonesia. [antaranews]
