DEPUTY Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar said that the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) is not just an automotive exhibition. She said that IIMS is a creative economy ecosystem.
IIMS 2025 itself was held at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran. With the slogan “Your Infinite Autotainment Experience,” IIMS, which has an autotainment concept, combines automotive exhibitions with various entertainment and other creative activities that create an interactive experience for visitors.
“IIMS 2025 is not only about cars and motorcycles, but also about how the creative ecosystem is present and evolving with the automotive industry. In the future, we hope that the synergy between these two sectors can be further strengthened through various programs and policies that support innovation,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene during a visit to IIMS 2025 on Saturday (02/22), 2025.
Irene said that the automotive industry is one of the largest contributors to Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). She highlighted the presence of creative industries such as vehicle customization, local fashion, music, games and handicrafts, which were also present at the IIMS 2025 event.
“The automotive industry and the creative industry have a close relationship that supports each other. The presence of creative products at this exhibition shows that innovation and creativity are inseparable parts of the development of the automotive industry,” said Irene.
Deputy Minister Irene also explained that cooperation between the automotive sector and the creative economy can create new, sustainable economic opportunities. One example is the vehicle modification industry, which involves not only automotive technicians, but also graphic designers, illustrators and local craftsmen who contribute to the production of high-quality products.
In addition, the gaming industry is starting to play a role in the automotive sector, especially with the presence of driving simulations, which are increasingly in demand. This proves that innovation in digital and automotive technology can go hand in hand to create a more interesting experience for the community.
The relationship between the automotive and creative industries is illustrated by the presence of the Pergi Ke Bulan creative studio, which presents various collections of fine art and other creative things. She emphasized that this collaboration will be further strengthened to promote the growth of the automotive industry and the creative economy at the same time.
“I believe that the automotive industry and the creative industry are closely related. Therefore, I hope that we can continue to present various innovations at IIMS in the future, including the involvement of the creative industry, which is becoming more and more widespread,” concluded Irene.
