MINISTER of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya emphasized the government’s commitment to support the development of intellectual property (IP) animation to be better known and competitive on the world stage.
In a press release received in Jakarta on Friday (03/7) 2025, Teuku Riefky stressed the importance of strengthening the national animation industry ecosystem through the development of local IP.
“The more animators, the richer the creative side. Animation needs an agent of creativity, and the capabilities of local animators are no longer in doubt,” said Minister of Creative Economy Riefky.
Riefky also expressed his support for one of the pioneers of social and environmental animation work called Pipilaka, under the auspices of the Pipilaka Foundation, focuses on organizing educational, social, cultural and artistic activities. The program aims to develop local animation with an environmental and humanitarian approach.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, assessed that Pipilaka has great potential in building an advanced animation ecosystem, especially in terms of technology.
According to her, Pipilaka has the potential to be a community organizer so that it can be connected to existing assets.
“Even though the focus is more on children, this small action has a big significance for future generations. After the local IP is created, it can be developed into merchandise or collaborated with other well-known local IPs,” Irene affirmed.
In addition, Irene said that Pipilaka’s animation works can be placed in various activations and locations, such as train stations, airports or other public places, to make the work of local animators more visible.
In addition, Taman Ismail Marzuki and Kota Tua Jakarta can also be used for immersive exhibitions. The support from the Ministry of Creative Economy is expected to further strengthen Pipilaka’s enthusiasm in developing local IP through various creative events based on immersive concepts.
“Pipilaka animation has not only a business aspect, but also a social aspect, so that the development of local IP can have a wider impact,” she noted.
It is known that the name Pipilaka comes from Sanskrit, which means ant. Pipilaka’s philosophy reflects the value of mutual cooperation, where small actions can have a big impact.
The foundation focuses on organizing educational art events that support various humanitarian and environmental causes by involving children through animation and live-action formats. [traveltext.id]
