INDONESIA-SWITZERLAND COOPERATES TO IMPROVE TOURISM TRAINING

THE INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism has strengthened cooperation with the Swiss government to improve the quality of tourism vocational training.

According to the ministry’s press release received here on Wednesday (03/26), 2025, the Ministry of Tourism has established cooperation with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and Swisscontact since 2018 to support the improvement of vocational education.

The ministry’s deputy for resources and institutions, Martini Paham, said the partnership was strengthened with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on July 22, 2024.

“Throughout 2024, our cooperation has been going well. Last year, the agenda of joint activities and partnership agreements were effectively implemented in various tourism polytechnics in Bali, Makassar and Lombok,” Paham said.

She explained that the vocational training cooperation with the Swiss government included an industry-based curriculum, capacity building for faculty, improved teaching methods, support for facilities management, industry collaboration and policy dialogue.

The partnership will continue in 2025 with a focus on increasing understanding of sustainability values and gender equality.

Meanwhile, Andar Danova L. Goeltom, the deputy of the Ministry of Human Resources and Vocational Education for Capacity Building, emphasized the importance of evaluating the cooperation activities in 2024 to determine the direction of activities and solutions in 2025.

Among other things, last year’s cooperation activities resulted in the implementation of the Swiss Federation for Adult Learning Batch 2 training program, which was attended by 17 lecturers from six tourism polytechnics.

“These alumni have not only completed their training but also have a mandate as agents of change at their respective polytechnics,” he noted. [traveltext.id]
