EXPLORING INDONESIA’s HERITAGE: UBUD FOOD FESTIVAL REVEALS 2025 THEME

BALI’s most anticipated food event returns from May 30 to June 1, 2025. With the 10th year, the festival highlights Indonesia’s rich food culture and explores how tradition continues to and explores how tradition continues to inspire the country’s ever-evolving culinary scene.

From talented young chefs elevating Indonesian cuisine to beloved culinary heroes celebrating the classics in style, this year’s festival is a testament to the country’s amazing culinary identity and a reminder that heritage is not just about the past – it is actively nurtured and maintained every day.

“In our 10th year, we honor Indonesia’s rich culinary traditions, celebrating the flavors, techniques and stories passed down through generations, and stories that have been passed down through generations. Over three days, foodies can discover lesser-known regional specialties and enjoy recipes that have shaped our diverse food culture,” said Founder and Director Janet DeNeefe.

As in years past, gourmands can savor the flavors of the festival’s famous free food market while also enjoying a curated line-up of special events. Masterclasses will put attendees at the forefront of culinary line of culinary excellence, offering personalized tips and hands-on instruction to perfect their dishes. Live cooking sessions on the Teater Kuliner stage guarantee festival-goers plenty of face time with culinary talents as they unveil their most iconic dishes.

Meanwhile, the Food for Thought stage will bring together consumers and producers to share stories, network and to share stories, network and collaborate on shaping a vibrant and sustainable culinary future. Featuring local changemakers, environmental heroes, hardworking farmers and pioneering organizations, this organizations, this platform brings together the region’s movers and shakers to tackle big issues and and new ideas.

Along with the launch of the theme, the festival also unveiled its official artwork by Balinese illustrator Gusde Sidhi. The piece is Gusde’s attempt to celebrate Indonesia’s culinary landscape through cultural symbolism, drawing inspiration from through cultural symbolism inspired by traditional aesthetics. With its rich imagery and detailed illustrations, the artwork celebrates the beauty of Indonesia’s most beloved dishes and the deep-rooted connection between connection between food, tradition and community.

“Much like a vintage poster, it tells a story-one of flavors and the enduring legacy of food as a cultural identity. At its center is a strong female figure, embodying the vital role of women in preserving and passing down culinary traditions, surrounded by iconic Indonesian dishes that celebrate flavors cherished for generations,” she added.
