INDONESIA and France have agreed to strengthen their cooperation in various fields. This agreement was formalized through the signing of 12 agreements, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) document in the creative economy sector.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, and the French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, in the presence of President Prabowo and President Macron at the State Palace.
In his speech, President Prabowo noted the significance of the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron, who is the first leader from the European Union to visit since his inauguration as the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia.
This visit is of particular significance as it commemorates 75 years of diplomatic relations and the establishment of a strategic partnership in 2011, with the objective of progressing towards a 100-year strategic alliance by 2050.
“As a country with a strong tradition, we have also launched a strategic declaration in the field of Indonesian-French culture. As a guideline for various collaborations in various fields of culture and the creative economy, which contribute to economic and social development,” said President Prabowo Subianto.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky, explained that cooperation in the creative economy sector of the two countries includes the sub-sectors of games, films, design, fashion, and crafts. The commitment that was established prioritizes the spirit of mutual respect and support for progress between the two countries.
Teuku Riefky stated that the two countries had come to an agreement to operate multiple collaborative initiatives within the creative economy sector. These initiatives encompass talent cultivation, fostering collaboration with relevant stakeholders, facilitation of market entry and safeguarding, and the commercialization of intellectual property.
Minister Teuku Riefky also stated that the following concrete steps have been identified for this collaboration: (1). strengthening talent (Creative Economy Human Resources), including workshops, (2). exchange of creative economy activists (residency), (3). co-production In the interest of broadening market access, it was decided that creative economy activists would be invited to participate in a variety of events in both countries.
Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, a special meeting was held between the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky, and the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, at the Ministry of Creative Economy’s office in Jakarta. The meeting focused on the implementation of the Indonesia-France creative economy cooperation, delving into the specifics of the process and potential areas for collaboration.
“The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding is expected to contribute to increasing export value, job creation, investment, and contribution to GDP from the Creative Economy sector, in line with the Asta Cita program and the 2025-2029 National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN),” concluded Teuku Riefky.
