THE MINISTER of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, officially opened “Indonesia Art Motoring II,” an exhibition presenting classic car collections and works of art inspired by the automotive world.
At the event, which took place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Jakarta on Friday, August 1, 2025, Tourism Minister Widiyanti said that the exhibition, which will last until August 8, 2025, is a strong attraction for tourists, especially classic car lovers.
“Indonesia Art Motoring II is a celebration for classic car enthusiasts, an opportunity to admire the beauty of restored vehicles and celebrate the history, art, and imagination they represent,” said Minister Widiyanti.
“Indonesia Art Motoring II” is an exhibition initiated by the Indonesia Classic Car Owners Club (ICCOC), a community of classic car owners in Indonesia founded in 2007.
Carrying the theme “Motion and Reflection,” the exhibition features 30 two- and three-dimensional works, including interactive pieces by artists from Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Bali. The event also displayed 30 classic cars.
Minister Widiyanti said the exhibition’s theme is expected to change how tourists think. “Motion” symbolizes the desire to explore new places, meet new people, and have new experiences. Reflection invites one to pause and understand the roots and stories that shape one’s life journey.
“As classic cars bring history, we want tourists visiting Indonesia to experience more than just a destination. We want them to take home stories about our nation and its cultural wealth. This exhibition is a perfect example of how tourism and culture can be integrated to build soft diplomacy and form perceptions through appreciation and shared experiences,” she affirmed.
Widiyanti further explained that this exhibition is a prime example of Indonesia’s potential to host high-quality events. This aligns with the Ministry of Tourism’s 2025 program, which aims to hold events in Indonesia that meet global standards.
“We hope this event continues to encourage cultural exchange and international collaboration and attracts more foreign and domestic tourists. We hope they will not only attend the event but also connect with the communities behind it,” Widiyanti concluded. [traveltext.id]
