IN THE midst of the demonstrations that have developed in recent days, President Subianto appealed to the community to remain calm and protect his family.
At the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Sunday (08/31), 2025, he stressed that the government, along with all political parties, both inside and outside the government, was determined to fight for the developing aspirations of the people.
“Let’s remind our families not to participate in activities that harm the public interest,” he said while delivering a statement alongside the general chairperson of political parties and the leadership of the MPR/DPR.
He also asked the public to trust the government to handle the emerging aspirations and appealed to all parties to remain calm.
“Let’s maintain national unity. Indonesia is on the verge of resurrection. Don’t let us be divided,” he said.
He stressed that the community had voiced its aspirations peacefully, without damaging public facilities, looting, or causing riots.
He noted that anarchist actions would only harm the common interest by damaging public funds.
Furthermore, he invited the community to encourage one another to avoid activities that could lead to treason or terrorism.
“We must be aware of groups that interfere with Indonesia’s progress and prosperity,” he said.
Citing the spirit of the nation’s ancestors, he stressed the importance of mutual cooperation in protecting the environment, ensuring family safety, and maintaining the integrity of the country.
“We must not continue to be pitted like sheep. Let’s work together to fix deficiencies in the government and within our nation,” he concluded. [antaranews]
