THE INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism assesses that the performance of the tourism sector in the third quarter of 2025 has strengthened the nation’s economy.
According to the Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, in her official statement in Jakarta recently, said the four sectors directly related to tourism were on the list with the highest growth. This emphasizes that tourism is not just a supporting sector, but the main pillar driving the national economy.
“Indonesia’s economy grew by 5.04% in the third quarter of 2025 based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). This achievement was also supported by the tourism sector which showed strong performance in various related business fields,” she said.
He explained that the four sectors were corporate services which grew 9.94% thanks to increased travel agency activity; entertainment and recreation services which grew 9.92 percent; transportation and warehousing which increased 8.62% as air, sea and land activities increased; as well as the accommodation, food and beverage sector which grew 8.41%.
“Apart from that, there has been an increase in the competitiveness of Indonesian tourism at the global level. Until September 2025, foreign tourist visits have reached 11.43 million visits, while domestic tourist movements have reached 901.9 million trips,” she stated.
Widiyanti added, we are optimistic that the target of 14.6-16 million foreign tourist visits and 1.08 billion domestic tourist movements can be achieved by the end of 2025.
The Ministry of Tourism, in maintaining this achievement, is now launching the national campaign “It’s Time to Vacation #InIndonesiaAja” and continuing the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) series which features superior festivals in various regions until the end of the year.
“We collaborate with local governments, industry players and creative communities to present attractive and sustainable tourism packages. This campaign also fosters people’s love for Indonesian tourist destinations,” she affirmed.
Indonesia’s presence at the international event World Travel Market (WTM) London 2025 also strengthens creative economic diplomacy through tourism. By carrying the global theme “Go Beyond Ordinary”, Indonesia is presenting a new face of tourism that emphasizes quality, sustainability and local wisdom.
She emphasized that cross-sector synergies will continue to be strengthened to expand the impact of tourism on community welfare. The tourism sector would create jobs, stimulate the regional economy, and foster pride in the culture and beauty of one’s own country.
“With the spirit of collaboration, we want to make Indonesian tourism a symbol of progress, togetherness and competitiveness of the nation in the world. I also convey that active participation in global forums is expected to confirm Indonesia’s position as a major player in the world tourism industry,” Minister Widiyanti concluded.
Through adaptive and innovative cooperation, Indonesia is considered to continue to strengthen the foundations of tourism that is resilient, inclusive and oriented towards sustainable growth. [traveltext.id]
