THE BANDUNG City Government reiterates its commitment to supporting the development of the Twin Airport concept between Bandung’s Husein Sastranegara Airport and Majalengka’s Kertajati Airport.
According to the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan ensures that the cross-institutional communication process continues, including preparing supporting infrastructure and regulating passenger mobility.
“I haven’t received complete details from the airport or Wings Air airline, but I will catch up today. This is part of our process in realizing the Bandung-Majalengka Twin Airport,” said Farhan at Bandung City Hall, Monday, (12/08), 2025.
According to him, the existence of two airports is not competition, but rather a distribution strategy for air connectivity in the West Java region, especially Greater Bandung. “Our task is to bring both to life,” he stressed.
Farhan said that one aspect that is being focused on is the completion of supporting infrastructure to Husein Sastranegara Airport.
“I will also coordinate with the Provincial Transportation Department and the Provincial Tourism Office. One of them is regarding the development of the flyover. When December is finished, we will arrange vehicle flow together with the Transportation Department and the airport,” he explained.
Even though flight schedules are still limited, Farhan is optimistic that adequate access will support economic potential, especially the tourism and education sectors.
“The positive impact is of course tourists and students. Many students from Central Java study in Bandung. With better connectivity, their movement will be much easier,” he concluded. [sources/photo special]
