IN THE Monthly Report, the Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, stated that throughout 2025, Indonesian tourism will demonstrate robust and sustainable growth. This is reflected in the significant increase in foreign tourist visits and domestic tourist trips.
On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the Tourism Minister, Widiyanti, delivered a statement indicating that the aggregate number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia from January to November 2025 amounted to 13.98 million. This figure has increased by 10.44% compared to the same period the previous year, which was recorded at 12.66 million visits.
“Regarding the main market, foreign tourist visits to Indonesia are predominantly concentrated among the five largest contributing countries: Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, China, and Timor Leste. These five countries cumulatively accounted for more than 56% of total foreign tourist visits in November 2025,” said Widiyanti.
According to her, this composition demonstrates the regional market’s strength and underscores the necessity of enhancing connectivity, targeted promotions, and service quality to expand the market to other regions.
From the air entrance side, foreign tourist visits are still concentrated at five main airports: Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Surabaya’s Juanda Airport, Medan’s Kualanamu Airport, and Yogyakarta International Airport.
“These five entrances are strategic nodes for Indonesia’s international tourism connectivity, and they will continue to be strengthened in terms of service, arrival experience, and integration with destinations,” she added.
Meanwhile, the cumulative difference between foreign and domestic tourist visits grew by 4.52 million from January to November 2024 to 5.64 million from January to November 2025. This condition is a positive indicator for strengthening the national tourism and foreign exchange balance, as well as increasing Indonesia’s attractiveness as a destination. [traveltext.id]
