‘I URGE HOMECOMING TRAVELERS TO PRIORITIZE HEALTH, SAFETY’: GIBRAN

VICE President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has reminded Indonesians traveling for the annual homecoming exodus to remain cautious on the road and maintain their health and safety during their journey.

“For fathers, mothers, and all brothers and sisters who are currently traveling for the homecoming trip, please be careful on the road and continue to maintain your health and safety,” Gibran said in a statement uploaded to the YouTube channel of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia recently.

The vice president noted that the country has entered the peak period of the annual homecoming travel season, a moment eagerly awaited by migrant workers and residents living away from their hometowns to reunite with family members in their regions of origin.

Gibran expressed hope that the opportunity to gather with family and relatives in their hometowns would bring warmth and happiness to those celebrating.

“Hopefully the moment of gathering with family and relatives in our hometowns will bring warmth and happiness,” he said.

He also conveyed his appreciation to members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), civil servants, media personnel, and other parties who continue to carry out their duties with dedication during the holiday period, in line with directives from President Prabowo Subianto.

On the same occasion, Gibran expressed hope that the celebrations of Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr, which fall close to each other this year, would serve as a momentum to strengthen solidarity and reinforce unity among Indonesians.

“I hope the celebrations of Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr this year will become an important moment for all of us to strengthen our brotherhood and reinforce our unity as fellow citizens of one nation,” he said.

Gibran also extended his greetings for Nyepi, marking the Saka New Year 1948, to Hindus across Indonesia. He expressed hope that the Day of Silence would bring peace, wisdom, and renewed spirit to the public in building the nation.

In addition, the vice president conveyed his wishes for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri to Muslims in Indonesia, expressing hope that God’s blessings and protection would continue to be bestowed upon the Indonesian nation. [antaranews]
