IN celebration of World Autism Awareness Month, VIVERE Hotel, ARTOTEL Curated, and MATALESOGE hospitABLElity Academy are raising awareness and caring for neurodivergent artists through an artwork titled “You See Me and I Feel You.”
According to Wawan Irawan Saputra, Caretaker General Manager of VIVERE Hotel and ARTOTEL Curated, at the opening ceremony, Friday, (04/24), 2026 said through this event was more than just a painting exhibition; it was designed to provide direct inspiration to bridge the gap between society and special needs artists to showcase their talented artwork.
“This exhibition aims to provide insight that art can also be created by individuals, including our friends with special needs. The exhibition period from April 24 to May 2, 2026,” he said.
He added that our collaboration with MATALESOGE hospitABLElity Academy is based on a common goal: we want to ensure that VIVERE Hotel and ARTOTEL Curated become witnesses to the special needs individuals’ journey of creating their artworks. We truly bring our lobby to life with photo and painting exhibition-like panels and feature their artworks.
This photography and painting art exhibition is also a form of implementation of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program initiated by VIVERE Hotel, ARTOTEL Curated. The training participants who participated in this exhibition were Gamal Zahar, Mario Badril, Kevin Lobata Lokenga, Nicole Nigella Hilman, Carlos Ciputra, Indhy Mutiarahmah, Achamd Rifqi Michael Rodion, and Audrey Christabel Angesti. Although they have developmental disabilities (neurodevelopmental and Down syndrome), this does not prevent them from continuing to hone their skills, especially in the field of art.
Meanwhile Tommy Hermanses, the CEO of MATALESOGE Center Jakarta, stated that the MATALESOGE hospitABLElity Academy is grateful to the VIVERE Hotel, ARTOTEL Curated Gading Serpong for giving people with special needs the opportunity to participate in this painting and photography exhibition specially in Gading Serpong area.
“We believe that differences should not be a barrier to development. We provide guidance and encourage trainees to develop their talents through programs at our training center. This collaboration aims to create equal opportunities and boost the self-confidence of people with special needs. Through this program, they will be able to discover and maximize their skills in the hospitality industry,” he said.
Tommy explained that MATALESOGE and ARTOTEL Group have been working together for 4 years and this painting exhibition is not the first, but is the first for the Tangerang area with the theme ‘You See Me and I Feel You’. This exhibition is also part of the ARTOTEL Group pillar, Art of Goodness, which focuses on people.
He added, through this exhibition, it is also therapeutic therapy, which is the most suitable for individuals with special needs to release stress, emotions and anger, especially for artists with special needs.
However, when he asked how they can feel confident with their artwork? Tommy replied that the most important thing is acceptance, because by being accepted by their own families and society, it can help them increase their self-confidence. That’s why we can see in their works that with our sense of acceptance, they can produce and are able to create works that are the same as normal people.
Likewise, Mrs. Nadine Lokenga, Kevin’s mother, said that Kevin is a blessing. We are very fortunate and grateful to have Kevin. He is a child with extraordinary talent. We also only discovered Kevin’s talent for painting when he joined the MATALESOGE Center. Most importantly, he is now an inspiration to our family.
“To make Kevin independent and become what he is today, it took motivation from his parents to keep him focused on his efforts. He has participated in two training programs at the MATALESOGE Center, participating in internships at several hotels in the housekeeping department and in the F&B as a barista,” she concluded proudly.
