THE MINISTRY of Creative Economy facilitated actor Sung Kang, known for his role in the film “Fast & Furious”, to undergo Night Drive activities in Jakarta as part of efforts to increase exposure to the domestic creative industry.
The actor from the film “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” visited iconic places such as the National Monument (Monas) area and the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout during the Night Drive activity in Jakarta on Monday (05/11), 2026.
As quoted in the ministry’s press release on Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar said that the presence of a global public figure like Sung Kang could help increase exposure of Indonesia’s creative industry.
Sung Kang’s presence in Jakarta is related to a new film project entitled “Drifter.” The film, directed by and starring Sung Kang, tells the story of a race track officer in a remote desert town who has a talent for drifting.
Irene stated that the visit of a global figure like Sung Kang in Jakarta could also open up opportunities for cooperation for Indonesian creative industry players. The Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to bridge industry players to collaborate to develop businesses.
“In short, creative economy is a matchmaking agency or dating agency, because with the right match or the right soul mate you can change your life for the better,” concluded Irene. [traveltext.id]
