BALI CONVENTION AND EXHIBITION BUREAU SETS FIVE PRIORITY AGENDAS

THE INAUGURATION of the Bali Convention and Exhibition Bureau (BaliCEB) board for the 2026–2031 period marks a crucial milestone for the Indonesian MICE industry. Amidst increasingly fierce global destination competition, BaliCEB emphasizes its role beyond simply being an industry organization, but also a collaborative platform that will strengthen Bali’s position as a hub for the business events and wellness economy in the Asia Pacific region.

According to Ketut Jaman, Chairman of BaliCEB, the future of Bali’s MICE industry can only be built through strong cross-sector synergy. BaliCEB exists as a collaborative hub because the MICE industry cannot be built by one party alone. MICE will be strong when all parties work together.

“Bali has advantages that many other destinations in the world lack. In addition to international-standard tourism infrastructure and event hosting facilities, the Island of the Gods offers experiences rooted in culture, spirituality, creativity, and the hospitality of the local people,” said Ketut Jaman.

He explained that many destinations have modern convention halls and facilities, but not all are able to deliver experiences that are as heartwarming, inspiring, and leave a lasting impression as Bali.

Over the past few decades, Bali has proven its capacity to host various prestigious international forums, from APEC, the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings, the G20 Summit, and the World Water Forum. This track record provides a strong foundation for attracting more global events to Indonesia, particularly Bali.

However, for the Bali Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Bali’s competitiveness is no longer solely determined by venue capacity or the number of hotel rooms. The MICE industry is now moving toward a more sustainable and experience-oriented concept.

The existence of the Nusa Dua integrated tourism area and the Sanur Health Special Economic Zone (KEK) is considered to further expand Bali’s position as a destination for quality tourism, wellness tourism, health tourism, medical tourism, and experience-based business events.

This transformation is also evident in the selection of the 2026 Bali Wellness and Beauty Expo (BWB Expo) as the location for the inauguration of the new BaliCEB board. This selection reflects the increasingly close relationship between the MICE industry and the rapidly growing wellness economy globally.

BaliCEB’s Five Strategic Agendas
For the next five years, BaliCEB has established several strategic priorities to strengthen Bali’s competitiveness in the international market.

The first agenda is to strengthen Bali’s position as a global MICE destination based on culture and sustainability. Second, to expand international promotion and global networks. Third, to increase international event bidding activities in a more aggressive and structured manner.

Meanwhile, the fourth agenda focuses on improving the quality of human resources, service standards, technology utilization, security, and the implementation of sustainability principles in event management.

The fifth agenda is to ensure that the economic benefits of the MICE industry are felt more widely by the Balinese people, including MSMEs, creative economy players, local communities, artists, and tourism workers.

“MICE development is not only about attracting international events, but also ensuring that the economic benefits are felt more widely by the Balinese people,” concluded Ketut Jaman.

As part of its global strategy, the Bali Convention and Exhibition Bureau will strengthen Bali’s presence at various international trade shows, such as the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) Melbourne, IMEX America, IMEX Frankfurt, and IBTM World Barcelona. [sources/photo special]
