MINISTRY SUPPORTS EKRAF CONSORTIUM TO BECOME A DIVER OF THE NAT’L EKRAF

THE INDONESIAN Ministry of Creative Economy (Ekraf) is strengthening its ongoing synergy with the Ekraf Higher Education Consortium (KPT) through plans to hold the Creative Consortium Summit & Innovation Challenge (CCSIC) 2026 this September at Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung. This collaboration is a step to accelerate the emergence of talent, research, and innovation that can provide added value to Indonesia.

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, also emphasized that KPT Creative Economy (Ekraf) is a strategic partner for the government in implementing the 2026–2045 Creative Economy Master Plan (Rindekraf), particularly in strengthening research, education, innovation, and talent development in the regions.

“The Creative Economy Office (KPT Ekraf) has been continuously promoted during meetings with the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology and the National Agency for Research and Innovation (BRIN) as a crucial part of the implementation of Rindekraf. Collaboration with KPT Ekraf needs to be strengthened so that research, education, innovation, and creative economy talent development align with the innovation agenda through programs such as the 2026 World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE). Therefore, KPT Ekraf will be a strategic partner in the upcoming Creative Session,” said the Teuku Riefky during an audience with KPT Ekraf management at the Ministry office in Jakarta on Tuesday (07/28).

The Minister explained that KPT Ekraf programs, such as CCSIC, should not only focus on developing research and intellectual property but also be able to commercialize the results of innovations in the global market. He stated that universities play a crucial role in downstreaming campus research, which has a direct impact on national economic growth.

“The Ministry of Creative Economy will promote the crucial elements of transformation within the create, protect, and commercialize value chain. Interestingly, innovations generated by the Creative Economy Innovation Center (KPT Ekraf) should not remain merely scientific works or intellectual property, but must be commercialized into superior products or works, developing into national brands and expanding globally. This is the creative economy that generates added value,” explained the Minister.

KPT Ekraf is an association of universities focused on developing education, research, talent, and innovation in the creative economy. It has 15 member universities. Initiated by the Ministry of Creative Economy in January 2025 at the University of Indonesia, KPT Ekraf is now a legal entity and ready to support the development of a creative economy ecosystem based on state and private universities.

“As part of the Road to WCCE, the Creative Economy Office (KPT Ekraf) is ready to participate in creating CCSIC 2026, which will provide a collaborative space for sharing information on the creative industry roadmap, particularly in the education sector. Synergy is also expected through innovation challenges, or competitions that can attract local talent to create brands that can be accelerated. We hope that KPT Ekraf can continue to support the Ministry of Creative Economy’s increasingly empowering programs,” said Dewi Kartika Sari, Chairperson of KPT Ekraf and Head of the Applied Creative Industries Master’s Program at the University of Indonesia.

CCSIC 2026, scheduled for September, carries the theme “Creative Industries: Local Heroes to National Champions, Go Global.” The forum will bring together academics, students, industry activists, creative communities, and the government to formulate the direction of university-based creative economy development while curating creative innovations ready for commercialization.
