THE MINISTRY of Tourism stated that the Indonesian government is actively collaborating with parties from around the world to strengthen the competitiveness and quality of Indonesia’s tourist destinations.
According to Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, in an official statement confirmed in Jakarta on Monday (08/10), 2026 said our goal is clear: to make tourism a driver of economic growth, a creator of jobs, a source of foreign exchange, and a path to equitable development and improving the welfare of the Indonesian people.
“An example of this collaboration, she said, can be seen in the state visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including his visit to the Prambanan Temple Complex in July 2026,” she said.
She explained that this momentum was used to strengthen the promotion of Indonesian tourism in the Indian market through the Wonderful Indonesia channel, Indian and international media, digital campaigns, advertising, and promotional collaborations with tourism industry players.
Following the visit, the Ministry of Tourism also encouraged integrated collaboration by organizing familiarization trips with travel agents and online travel agents from India.
“The high level of interest from the Indian public in this visit is expected to increase their interest in coming to Indonesia, learning about Prambanan, and exploring more destinations in various regions,” he said.
The Ministry of Tourism is also strengthening its collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs by signing a Joint Understanding to support the implementation of the People’s School Program.
As a form of support, the Ministry of Tourism is providing land in the NHI Bandung Tourism Polytechnic area for the construction of educational facilities and supporting facilities.
This collaboration also includes strengthening the tourism awareness curriculum, synchronizing social welfare improvement programs in tourist villages and destinations, and developing further education pathways for People’s School graduates.
The Ministry of Tourism will also allocate a 20% quota for People’s School graduates to continue their education at the Tourism Polytechnic through a scholarship program.
He also mentioned that the Ministry of Tourism’s attendance at the Ministerial Coordination Meeting on Bali regional development, chaired by the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, is an effort to achieve more equitable tourism development.
As a follow-up, the government will develop a tourist dispersion master plan to reduce the concentration of visits in South Bali while accelerating the development of destinations in North, East, and West Bali. This development will be integrated with improvements in connectivity, basic services, environmental management, and community empowerment.
Furthermore, to strengthen the quality of the destination, a working visit to Belitung will be conducted to review readiness for the revalidation of Belitung as a UNESCO Global Geopark, scheduled for August 2026.
