THE Asian men’s professional golf tour or the Asian Tour has officially canceled the Taiwan Masters tournament which is scheduled to be held in September 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The decision to cancel the Taiwan Masters was taken by considering the health and safety of all parties, as well as travel restrictions imposed in the countries of the players,” the Asian Tour said in a statement quoted by Reuters.
“The plan is that the Taiwan Masters will be back on the agenda in 2021. Taiwan Masters 2020 is scheduled for September 17-20 at the Taiwan Golf and Country Club, Taiwan,” said the Asian Tour.
Last year, Thai golfer Suradit Yongcharoenchai won the title of the tournament. The Asian Tour has been suspended since last March due to the corona virus pandemic that has struck in various parts of the world.
But the Asian professional golf tour is scheduled to resume in September 2020 and begin with the Shinhan Donghae Open tournament in South Korea. [antaranews/photo special]
