INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy ensures the readiness of the Belitung Region, to host the Indonesia Triathlon Series 2021 event on March 13, 2021.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, said I think the race for the Indonesia Triathlon Series is ready. “Hopefully everything goes well so that it can generate tourism, increase the creative economy, restore the economy of Bangka Belitung, and continue our post-pandemic revovery.
Triathlon is a combination sport that is done continuously, from swimming, cycling and running,” said Sandiaga, at the Halfway Point Trial Triathlon, at Tanjung Tinggi Beach Belitung, Saturday (6/2).
Sandiaga Uno conducted a triathlon trial starting with swimming as far as 350 meters at the Sheraton Hotel Area Beach, then continued by cycling as far as 33 km, and finally running 3 km in the Tanjung Kelayang Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The whole series is carried out with the application of strict and disciplined health protocols.
“We have already tried the track, starting from swimming at the Sheraton Hotel Area Beach, then cycling from Tanjung Kelayang to Tanjung Tinggi, then rotating at the Sijuk Temple. And later it will continue to run in the SEZ area” said Sandiaga.
He said that the triathlon simulation or trial shows that Belitung is one of the best places to be the venue for the triathlon series. Because it is supported by very clear beaches and quite challenging coastal currents and smooth roads.
“This is the third time I have open water swimming in Belitung and I have also done open water swimming in several iconic destinations in Indonesia and I think that Belitung is one of the best,” he noted.
Sandiaga also said that the health protocol must be strictly and disciplined. The transition when swimming to a bicycle is also given a mask, hand sanitizer, and maintaining distance.
“The application of health protocols in this triathlon trial has complied with good health protocols based on Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability (CHSE),” he stated.
On the same occasion, Chairman of the Indonesia Triathlon Series, Arian Lukman, explained that for 2021 the entire triathlon series of participants would be limited. Starting slowly from 50 people, then the second series will be held in Kendari City with still 50 people, then in Palembang there will be 75-100 participants.
“All preparations will be started slowly from a short distance, then the participants will be increased, but the distance is still in accordance with the health standards. So, we will limit other sporting events until the pandemic situation improves,” Arian affirmed.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Belitung Regency Youth and Sports Service, Soebagio, said that this triathlon trial activity was part of a trial or simulation related to the event that will be held in March 2021, namely the Indonesia Triathlon Series.
“We appreciate the Tourism Minsitry who have tried from the starting track that we have prepared in Belitung Regency and we hope that Belitung can become a sports tourism icon that can spur the revival of the country’s tourism,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
