AROUND 10 tourism associations in Bali have begun the process of digitizing their businesses with a non-cash payment system using Bank Indonesia’s QRIS.
According to the Head of the Bali Bank Indonesia Representative Office (KPw BI) Trisno Nugroho, digitizing tourism with a non-cash payment system is an effort to run a business during a pandemic. This step is also to improve the quality of tourism on the Island of the Gods, so that it can compete with other countries such as Singapore and Thailand.
“BI has a non-cash payment system, namely the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), digitalization in this case is one of the main keys to building trust and comfort for tourists in traveling,” he said at the Bali Tourism Industry Association (GIPI) Office, Thursday (20/5).
He explained that non-cash payment transactions with QRIS can be done more quickly, easily, cheaply, and safely, especially in the midst of a pandemic like today. In addition, this payment system can also be implemented in all areas of business, from hotels, restaurants, souvenir centers, to traditional markets.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director of BI Bali Agus Sistyo W. said that the digitalization of payments made by Bank Indonesia based on QRIS was very appropriate with the implementation of the Covid-19 health protocol, because it could be done without face-to-face contact. Moreover, digitization will be able to capture new opportunities arising from the efficiency of making non-cash payments.
“Digitalization must be done if you don’t want to be left behind in capturing all the opportunities that exist,” he added.
Likewise, the Chairperson of GIPI Bali Ida Bagus Agung Partha Adnyana explained that the ten associations that are members have committed to realizing tourism recovery by digitizing tourism.
“To realize quality tourism that is able to compete with other countries, the steps that must be taken are switching to business digitization. We have committed to it,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo traveltext]
