THE Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Central Lombok is targeted to absorb 58,700 workers by 2025. Employment in Mandalika will be prioritized in several sectors such as hotels, the Mandalika circuit, restaurants and infrastructure.
Data from the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Manpower and Transmigration Office states that 11,900 people are employed in the Mandalika circuit and 8,350 people in the hotel sector with an estimated 385 people in each five-star hotel.
According to the Head of the NTB Manpower and Transmigration Office, I Gede Putu Aryadi, the number of workers absorbed is based on the application of Mandalikan as a National Superpriority Area (KSPN).
“Mandalika’s workforce needs have begun to be absorbed, especially in the infrastructure sector, ranging from road construction from the airport to Mandalika, circuit construction to hospitals,” Aryadi explained recently.
In the infrastructure sector, he continued, the number of workers who have been absorbed is 5800 workers. In addition, the potential sector that absorbs labor is in Information and Technology [IT. We have also prepared a special booth for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) which will involve many workers in the MSME sector.
“To meet the target of labor absorption, the NTB Manpower and Transmigration Office has prepared BLK, East Lombok national job training center (BLKN), Private Job Training Institute (LPKS), tourism industry associations, and MSMEs. Currently, a total of 490 people is being trained with an apprenticeship pattern for 5 months and get an allowance of IDR1 million per month,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
