TOURISM INDUSTRY RISE UP, THE TOURISM MINISTRY OPTIMIZES PEDULILINDUNGI

THE INDONESIAN Government continues to boost the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination. Not only that, the PeduliLindungi application is also being optimized. Although currently, there are many complaints from tourism managers who have difficulty implementing this application in their tourist attractions.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, during the Weekly Press Briefing, Monday (8/30) said that in order for the tourism industry to revive, public confidence in being able to travel safely is a must. Policies for using vaccine cards to enter tourist attractions continue to be discussed.

Sandiaga gave an example of the Cibodas Botanical Garden which has been operating since last Wednesday (8/25). The management has required tourists who come to show proof of having received at least the first dose of vaccine, in an effort to suppress the spread of COVID-19.

“For this reason, the Ministry of Tourism continues to boost vaccination centers in various regions. With the target of being able to vaccinate up to 95%, as of last Sunday (29/8), around 281,269 people have been vaccinated in 37 vaccination centers in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. The government hopes to be able to pursue the target of 450,000 people by September 2021, especially those who are involved in tourism and the creative economy are vaccinated,” said Sandiaga.

Regarding preparations for receiving tourist visits, he continued, if many tourist attractions were opened, in addition to coordinating with local governments, district governments, provincial governments, we also coordinated with Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI).

“As for Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) itself, we will continue to boost, reports as of Monday (8/23) and then there have been 1,154 tourism businesses that have been audited, with the hope that at the end of the implementation of the target 6200 businesses can be certified,” Minister Sandiaga revealed.

However, when asked about whether CHSE could be one of the determining factors regarding the opening return to tourism? Minister Sandiaga said that CHSE certification had not been seen as one of the determining factors related to the reopening of tourism businesses. However, this CHSE certification can increase the competitiveness of tourist attractions and will also describe the host’s readiness to welcome tourists.

“Based on the data we have collected; it is predicted that by the end of September 2021 the number of COVID-19 will be sloping. This is while we prepare strict and disciplined health protocols in tourist destinations and creative economy centers and also with efforts to accelerate vaccination,” Sandiaga Uno concluded.
