THE INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy encourages the development of health tourism (wellness tourism) in Indonesia to revive the tourism sector and creative economy in the archipelago.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said the government wants to make health tourism a flagship program that targets the empowerment of domestic tourists. Health tourism is a tourism activity that prioritizes improving health and physical fitness as well as restoring the spiritual and mental health of tourists.
Research from Frontiers in Psychiatry notes that people who regularly do yoga and meditation can help ease the burden on their minds due to the pandemic, reduce stress, and increase peace of mind, and has even been shown to help boost the body’s immune system.
Then, based on the COVID Health Assessment Scale (CHAS) survey conducted in May 2020 on 23,900 respondents worldwide, there were 17,782 (74.4 percent) people who regularly practiced yoga during the pandemic. Then as many as 82.8% of those who regularly do yoga and meditation, have lower stress levels, even undetected, and have better adaptability in pandemic situations.
Meanwhile Aprishi Allita, Yoga & Meditation Expert, agreed to the survey. She said in an official statement, in yoga activities, the rhythm of breathing is the main focus. We also become more aware of the condition of the body, room, and environment (mindful). Yoga and meditation are one of the most effective ways to find peace and balance (mindfulness and balance).
