THE INDONESIA’S government will limit the entrance of international travel to Indonesia as an effort to prevent the new variant of COVID-19 from entering the country.
According to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment as well as the Coordinator of PPKM Java-Bali, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in an online press conference monitored from Jakarta, Monday (9/20), revealed that the risk of increasing cases is still high, one of which is from abroad due to the high number of COVID-19 cases. 19 in neighboring countries.
“We also don’t want to miss the entry of new variants, such as Mu and Lambda, into Indonesia. Therefore, to prevent this from happening, the government will limit the entry points for international travel to Indonesia and tighten the quarantine process for foreign and Indonesian citizens who are traveling to Indonesia. come from abroad,” said Minister Luhut Pandjaitan.
Luhut explained specifically that air entrances are only opened in Jakarta and Manado. Meanwhile, the sea is only opened in Batam and Tanjung Pinang. While the land route can only be opened in Aruk, Entikong, Nunukan, and Motaain.
“This we learn from past events where we also made mistakes, maybe. We don’t want to repeat those mistakes again,” said Luhut.
In addition to limiting entry into Indonesia, Luhut ensured that the quarantine process was also carried out strictly without exception. The quarantine duration is set at 8 days and the PCR test is carried out three times.
