THE INDONESIAN Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) states that children under 12 years old are only allowed to be in hotel rooms with parental assistance.
The head of the Jakarta PHRI Regional Leadership Body (BPD), Sutrisno Iwantono, said that children are not allowed to enter public spaces in the hotel, such as cafes, restaurants and swimming pools.
“They can only go to the hotel to enter rooms and meeting rooms, but they are not allowed to go to restaurants or cafes,” said Sutrisno when contacted in Jakarta, Wednesday night (9/22).
He explained that the regulation refers to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s policy which has allowed children under the age of 12 to visit non-quarantine handling hotels.
However, parents are required to attach a negative COVID-19 result based on the H-1 antigen swab test or the H-2 polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based swab test.
Sutrisno explained that children are not allowed to enter the cafe, restaurant and swimming pool areas to avoid having to remove masks in public places.
In addition to hotel rooms, children are allowed to enter meeting rooms with a maximum capacity of 50 percent which are equipped with the PeduliLindungi application screening. The accompanying parent is also required to have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“The supervision is at each hotel through the COVID-19 Protocol Supervision and Enforcement Task Force at each hotel,” said Sutrisno.
There are also new rules regarding the licensing of children under 12 years of age visiting hotels as stated in the DKI Jakarta Governor’s Decree No. 1122 concerning implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) level 3. The provisions in the latest Kepgub are valid from September 21 to October 4, 2021.
In that provision, hotels are required to use the PeduliLindungi application and the maximum allowed capacity is 50% with the green and yellow categories in that application being allowed to enter. Buffet dining facilities are also not permitted and are only allowed to serve packaged food. [antaranews/photo special]
