OMICRON CASES INCREASE, LUHUT ASK WFH TO BE IMPLEMENTED AGAIN

CASES of the Omicron variant of the corona virus are still growing to this day. As of Friday (1/14), the number of Omicron cases had increased to 572.

“Almost half or about 276 people have finished undergoing isolation, while the remaining 296 people are still in isolation. From the results of monitoring in the field, the majority of symptoms are mild and asymptomatic. So, no serious treatment is needed,” said Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi.

In response to this situation, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan appealed for offices to be able to return to implementing Work From Home (WFH) to suppress the spread of COVID-19.

Luhut emphasized that although the Indonesian health system was quite prepared to deal with Omicron, public awareness in implementing health protocols was the main key in suppressing the rate of case spread.

“The government is ready, if the community is not ready, that will also be a problem. In accordance with President Jokowi’s directives at today’s meeting, Luhut revealed that although he still follows the PPKM level based on existing assessments, he urges the public to start limiting activities outside the house and gathering that is not necessary,” said Luhut.

He explained, I repeat this, if we don’t need to get together, we don’t have to gather. It’s the same with offices, if the work from home option is still able to maintain productivity levels, we leave it to the top management to do the assessment themselves. I urge that option (WFH) can be taken.

“I also urge that office activities can be arranged so that there is no need for 100% WFO (Working From Office). We urge you, if you don’t need 100% at the office, you don’t have to be 100% present. So just set it up, see the situation, whether 75% is made for the next two weeks, it can be assessed by each office. Especially the office. In terms of industry, I think there is no problem,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
