PT ANGKASA Pura (AP) II developed the Airport Metaverse to support services at 20 airports managed by state-owned enterprises.
“AP II will develop the Airport Metaverse, so of course this metaverse will be used for airport interests, from operations, services, to commercial,” said AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin in his statement, Wednesday (2/02).
Internally, said Awaluddin, AP II used the metaverse in the First Quarter 2022 Leadership Meeting on January 31, 2022. At that time, the board of directors met and communicated with each other in the digital world.
Metaverse is a synergy between the ecosystem (digital world) and supporting technology, one of which is extended reality technology such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mix Reality (MR).
Through the metaverse, everyone who is not physically in the same room can connect directly in the digital world to meet each other, work, communicate, socialize, collaborate, and so on.
According to Awaluddin, in the early stages, AP II will develop 3 programs that utilize the metaverse, namely:
Airport Metaverse Learning
AP II develops training modules and methods to support airport operational reliability. “Utilizing the metaverse, training can be carried out quickly and simultaneously in one place (digital world) with a large number of teams from various airports,” he said.
The training to utilize this metaverse is more optimal in making standard operating procedures (SOPs) run by airport staff to be maintained at all AP II airports. In addition, the solidity of the team at all AP II airports can be strengthened because the training is carried out together more often.
“Staff at 20 airports can directly participate in the training together through Airport Metaverse Learning. This is certainly an excellent breakthrough and innovation in optimizing the training program,” said Awaluddin.
Tourism Activity Center
Utilizing the metaverse, the wider community from various locations can know and feel the experience of all services and facilities available at AP II airports. In addition, users can also get to know and feel the experience of visiting various tourist destinations in an area where there is an AP II airport.
“Through metaverse, users can interact with each other, including communicating directly with AP II staff,” said Awaluddin.
Augmented Airport Experience
AP II has developed an Augmented Airport Experience that can be used by airport visitors or airplane passengers as a navigation tool via gadgets to get to various locations at the airport, for example: boarding lounges, restaurants or certain tenants.
“This technology helps airport visitors or airplane passengers to be able to more accurately predict the time needed to carry out various activities at AP II airport,” Awaluddin noted.
According to Awaluddin, the Airport Metaverse program launched by AP II in the future will also be encouraged to involve various stakeholders, including airlines and commercial business partners at the airport. Through the collaboration of various stakeholders, the Airport Metaverse ecosystem will be realized at AP II airports.
“Airport Metaverse is a form of adaptation of AP II to ensure the Airport Hospitality Experience is maintained and improved in the midst of global developments,” said the President Director of Angkasa Pura II. [bisnis.com/photo special]
