COVID-19 CASES, THE US PROHIBITS ITS CITIZENS FROM VISITING INDONESIA

FOLLOWING the travel ban from the United States (US) Government so that US citizens do not visit Indonesia due to the increase in COVID-19 cases with a high risk, the Indonesian government responded casually.

According to the Deputy for Strategic Policy at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Kurieni Ukar said, the ban did not affect the target of foreign tourists as targeted, namely the visit of 280 million tourists to Indonesia.

“Foreign tourists from the US don’t have much influence on our foreign tourist targets. Furthermore, foreign tourists from the United States are welcome to visit Indonesia because currently, according to him, the COVID-19 condition is getting better,” said Kurieni Ukar.

He explained, in fact, at this time China is a country that has a big influence in the tourism sector so it deserves attention. The biggest one is probably China which is still banning it, because China has a very large outbound. And he affects all tourism around the world.

Referring to data from the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO 2021), currently international tourism has not fully recovered with an estimated recovery of only 11% in 2022 and 43% in 2023. So that tourism is more piled on domestic tourists. [antaranews/photo special]
