TOURISM MINISTRY SIGNS MoU WITH DORNA SPORTS FOR MOTOGP AND WSBK 2022

JUST on Friday (2/18) night the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has signed a Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy with Dorna Sports regarding the implementation of MotoGP and WSBK 2022. This virtual signing ceremony took place online.

In collaborating with Dorna Sports as the organizer of the MotoGP, which was represented by the managing director of Dorna, Carlos Ezpeleta and the Deputy for Tourism Products and Event Organizers of the Tourism Ministry, Rizki Handayani online. This collaboration is to support MotoGP activities which will be held at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara on 18-20 March.

In his remarks, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, who also witnessed the signing of the MoU, said that this event has managed to become the talk of the international community, and we have to be able to improve preparations for the event on March 18-20, 2022. However, several corrections are necessary to improve the circuit’s readiness once the race begins, including in welcoming 100 thousand tourists, MotoGP racers, and official teams.

“This is a directive from the President (Joko Widodo) as well. I believe all parties join hands to prepare and ensure that MotoGP is a signal to the world about our readiness to hold international events, such as the G20 and other international conferences,” Sandiaga remarked.

He also added the recent 2022 MotoGP Pre-Season Test at the Mandalika Circuit was categorized as a success and has drawn the attention of the international automotive world as well as Indonesian tourism and creative economy players.

Meanwhile, Dorna managing director Carlos Ezpeleta said that Dorna Sports has assessed the Mandalika Circuit after holding the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test. The circuit situation is good, we experience some challenges, as in every new circuit we have visited.

‘It can be said that this is one of the newest tracks on the MotoGP calendar with a very beautiful scenic and iconic event, especially with the greatest safety requirements we have ever been to.
