THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy is preparing a number of strategic programs to work on opportunities and anticipate challenges in the tourism and creative economy sector in 2023.

Sandiaga explained, how the government encourages the implementation of PP 24/2022 needs to be supported by creative economy players’ understanding of financing schemes based on Intellectual Property Rights, character/entertainment, and fashion to become the biggest potential licensing market. The tourism trends for 2023, said Sandiaga, include culture immersion, wellness tourism, work from destinations, and Off-Grid Travel. Meanwhile, creative economy trends for 2023 include local content and Indonesian films, the rise of local brands, circular fashion and the metaverse era.
“All of the Tourism Ministry’s strategic work programs are also in line with the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN),” he stated.
Seeing various opportunities, Sandiaga is optimistic that the Indonesian tourism and creative economy sector can rise faster, recover stronger. He also invited all parties to jointly support efforts to open business opportunities, empower Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and create the widest possible employment opportunities with a target of 4.4 million in 2024, for the revival of the national economy.
