AIRASIA INDONESIA PLANS TO OPERATE A TOTAL 32 AIRCRAFTS BY 2023

ALONG with the economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic, AirAsia Indonesia plans to operate a total of 32 aircrafts by 2023.

According to President Director of AirAsia Indonesia, Veranita Yosephine, at GMF Aeroasia Hangar 4, Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Friday (02/17) revealed that the total number of fleets that the company will operate this year is more than the number before the pandemic. AirAsia plans to fly 32 aircraft in 2023, 4 more aircraft than 2019 before the pandemic.

Veranita added that her party also plans to open new flight routes this year, both domestic and international in the Southeast Asia region. However, she has not been able to disclose it in detail.

The effort, she said, is to realize AirAsia Indonesia’s commitment and ambition to improve Indonesia’s connectivity through air flights. So far, the airline has a total of 26 aircraft fleets, but only 18-19 fleets are operated by the company due to constraints on the availability of Airbus A320 spare parts.

“The A320 aircraft type is very popular in the aviation industry around the world, because all airlines are competing to reactivate the fleet after 2 years of the pandemic there are challenges related to the availability of spare parts. That is what we are working on so that we gradually increase the fleet that we fly,” she remarked.

On the other hand, Veranita also admitted that currently the price of airplane tickets has sloped, considering that last year it had jumped high due to the increase in jet fuel prices.

“It has gone down a lot, you can see last year’s tickets in July were higher than now. If now in my opinion it is economical from aviation and tourism well,” she concluded. [sources/photo special]
