THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy revealed that there were around 754 thousand foreign tourists who came to visit Indonesia during January 2023. The increase in the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia is expected to boost the economy.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in “The Weekly Press Briefing” at Sapta Pesona Building, Central Jakarta, Monday (03/06), 2023, said based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) there was an increase in the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia in January 2023 compared to the same period the previous year.
“When compared to January 2022 (the number of foreign tourist visits) has increased by 503.34%. The foreign tourist visits, were dominated by five countries, namely Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, Timor Leste, and India. We will continue to encourage with several activities so that the increase in foreign tourist visits continues to rise with several activities,” he said.
Sandiaga explained that Indonesia is currently entering the low season, so it is expected that there will be a decrease in the number of foreign tourist visits. To deal with the decline, he said the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has collaborated with several airlines to offer attractive promos.
“We also conduct activation programs through famtrips. Then there are also activation programs through participation in the largest international exhibitions such as SATTE 2023 in India and ITB Berlin in Germany which I plan to attend and investment roadshows in Hong Kong so that it is hoped that there will be more foreign tourists brought in during this low season,” he concluded.
