GARUDA Indonesia opened the first direct international flight on the Singapore-Surabaya round-trip route which officially began served on Sunday (03/26), 2023. The Singapore-Surabaya flight route will be served 5 (five) times per week using the B737-800NG fleet which has a capacity of 12 business class passengers and 150 economy class passengers.
The Singapore-Surabaya flight is served with GA 855 and departs from Changi International Airport at 19:20 LT and arrives in Surabaya at 20:50 WIB. While the Surabaya-Singapore flight is served with GA 855 and departs from Juanda Surabaya International Airport at 07.30 WIB and will arrive at Changi International Airport at 10.50 LT.
According to Garuda Indonesia President Director, Irfan Setiaputra, said Garuda Indonesia is committed to fully supporting the mission of national economic recovery, especially the tourism sector. One of them is through providing air accessibility, especially in connecting foreign tourists to various leading destinations from Surabaya as a strategic tourism and business hub.
“The operation of the Singapore – Surabaya direct flight route is expected to not only provide a variety of direct flight options to various leading destinations in Indonesia but also contribute to the economic recovery of Surabaya and surrounding cities through safe and comfortable flight services,” Irfan explained in a recent release.
Irfan explained that the resumption of this flight route is also expected to contribute to the need for cargo shipments, especially various superior superior products from East Java.
Garuda Indonesia will serve at least 37 flights from Singapore every week to 3 major cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta which is served 27 times every week, Surabaya which is served 5 times every week and Denpasar which is served 5 times every week.
In the future, Garuda Indonesia will carry out network expansion programs and increase production capacity on various routes that make a positive contribution to the company both domestically and internationally. [sources/photo special]
