CHINESE airline, China Southern Airlines, reopened the Guangzhou-Denpasar round-trip route for the first time after the COVID-19 pandemic. The return of the route further enhances the connectivity of Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport with Mainland China.
According to the General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Handy Heryudhitiawan expressed his appreciation for the return of China Southern Airlines to the island of Bali. Guangzhou as one of the largest cities in China is certainly a very strategic route for the tourism sector in Bali.
“On its maiden flight, China Southern aircraft with flight number CZ625 landed at Ngurah Rai Airport, Friday, April 28, 2023, at 23.30 Wita, carrying 171 passengers from Guangzhou China,” he said.
He explained, the Airbus A321 aircraft flew back to Guangzhou on Saturday morning at 00.42 Wita with flight number CZ626, carrying 265 passengers. With the addition of routes to and from Guangzhou, we hope to open up opportunities for connectivity with other cities in China, and of course further increase the number of users of I Gusti Ngurah International Airport services.
“Currently Ngurah Rai Airport serves 4 routes to Mainland China namely to Shanghai, Shenzen, Guangzhou, and Xiamen with 4 airlines. Currently overall we serve 29 scheduled international routes served by 35 airlines. We hope that the reconnection of Bali Island with Guangzhou can have a positive influence on the world of aviation and tourism in Bali,” Handy said.
He added, as additional information, Ngurah Rai Airport has served 2,343,997 international passengers until March 2023. In 2023, we project to serve 9.4 million international passengers, an increase of 140% compared to 2022. [sources/photo special]
