According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno after a press conference at the Media Center of the 42nd ASEAN Summit 2023 at the Bintang Flores Hotel, Labuan Bajo, Wednesday (5/10), 2023 said Labuan Bajo is ready to hold world-class events such as the ASEAN Summit. We will participate in future bidding to make Labuan Bajo a world-class MICE destination.
The Ministry of Tourism will ensure that national and international class events will be brought to Labuan Bajo. Not only divided in the busy season, but also in the season which is predicted to decrease the number of tourists.
“Therefore, we will ensure that events throughout the year are our efforts in 2024 to create 4.4 million new jobs,” he said.
Minister Sandiaga said Labuan Bajo was a unique and special destination. Because of that Labuan Bajo is included as one of the Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP).
“Here the accommodation is not only on land, namely hotels and resorts, but there are also homestays, sarhunta (residential tourism facilities), there are tourist villages, and there is also Live on Board (LOB) which is part of the attractions and also provides the attractions. This is what we need to socialize and educate tourists that they have options for accommodation,” he said.
Sandiaga sees positive trends in the tourism sector and the creative economy going forward according to the international conference of countries in Southeast Asia. Increased tourist visits and the potential for this increase will help to achieve the target of 8.5 million foreign tourist visits in 2023.
“Labuan Bajo has a total of 300-350 thousand foreign tourists visiting, maybe it will increase by 10-20% because of the 42nd ASEAN Summit 2023,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
