THE INDONESIAN EMBASSY IN SEOUL SUPPORTS RI-KOREA TOURISM SECTOR

THE INDONESIAN Embassy in Seoul, South Korea, expressed support for tourism in the two countries and strive for more flights from and to Indonesia.

“Supporting the re-opening of the Garuda Direct (airline) of the Incheon-Denpasar route, which since the beginning of the year,” said Deputy Chief Representative of the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul Zelda Wulan Kartika, when meeting with journalists participating in the Indonesian Next Generation Journalist Network on Korea, in Seoul, Tuesday (5/30), 2023.

Zelda said they were also encouraging the opening of other flight paths between Indonesia and South Korea, including with low -cost airlines so that more and more South Koreans visited Indonesia and vice versa.

Bali Island is still the most popular tourist destination South Korean. The Indonesian Embassy, said Zelda, is encouraging other tourist destinations in Indonesia to be visited by South Koreans such as Batam Island (Riau Islands), Manado (North Sulawesi) and Labuan Bajo (East Nusa Tenggara), for example to play golf, one of the sports that is loved in South Korea.

The Garuda Indonesia National Airline in mid -May announced an increase in the frequency of international route flights, including to South Korea.

At present the airline serves the flight route on the Incheon-Jakarta round-trip flight three times per week, from previously only twice per week. The increase in the frequency of international flights is the step of Garuda to respond to the growth of the world travel industry which shows a positive trend.

Indonesia and South Korea this year commemorated 50 years of bilateral relations. South Korea is listed as one of the biggest trading and investment partners for Indonesia.

Another cooperation that is being encouraged between Indonesia and South Korea is in the field of creative and digital economy. According to Zelda, Indonesia can learn how Korean Wave, a wave of South Korean culture, not only reached Asia, but, also Europe to America.
