THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy revealed that the development of the concept of sustainable tourism has an important role in recovering the Indonesian (RI) tourism & creative economy (parekraf) sector after the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in the 4th Tourism Working Group/Ministerial Meeting G20 at Assembleia Taj Resort & Convention Center, Goa, India on Wednesday (6/21), 2023 said the development of sustainable tourism such as green tourism, digitalization of tourism & creative economy (parekraf).
He continued that Increased the skills of MSME actors Tourism and the creative economy as well as support for MSME development are a number of efforts made by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to revive the Indonesian tourism and creative economy sector which was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Earlier we conveyed a number of things. The first is the power of the creative economy in encouraging how this tourism can open up business opportunities and employment. The next step in the recovery of Indonesian tourism & creative economy (parekraf) is the management of tourist destinations based on sustainability aspects in the Bali Guidelines,” said Sandiaga.
The use of tourist villages, for example, has succeeded in having a positive impact on the environment as well as turning the wheels of the economy from increasing the number of tourist visits, namely by 30-35% in 2023.
“This is proof that tourist destinations that offer ecotourism as well as environmental and sustainable issues are tourism potential to be reckoned with. We also convey Indonesia’s commitment to encouraging the spirit of the Bali Guidelines which we formulated last year as a road map for recovery, especially since our position is now it has become a reference in the revival of the world economy,” Sandiaga concluded.
