STATE-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir said the MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) was confirmed to be held in October 2023 according to a predetermined schedule.
“MotoGP will still be held in October 2023 at the Mandalika Circuit,” said Erick Thohir while attending the Shell Eco Marathon event, at the Mandalika Circuit, Sunday (7/9), 2023.
He said that supporting the development of sports tourism in the Mandalika SEZ was not enough just to hold two events, namely MotoGP and WSBK. So that various events continue to be held at the Mandalika Circuit including the Shell Eco Marathon which is attended by hundreds of students from dozens of universities both domestically and abroad.
“We are trying to make various events so that they can be held in Mandalika,” he said.
The construction of the Mandalika Circuit has been completed, but the supporting facilities for tourist destinations in the Mandalika SEZ continue to be developed. So that in the future it is planned to build an international horse racing circuit and a golf course.
“We are developing this area for sport tourism,” said Erick again.
Therefore, it is hoped that the synergy and collaboration of the central government with local governments and the community will support the development of this Mandalika SEZ.
“This development is expected to increase the growth of MSMEs and improve the community’s economy,” he stated.
The readiness of the Mandalika Circuit is not only for the MotoGP event, but it is hoped for other sporting events, with the hope of increasing tourist visits and increasing the community’s economic growth. [antaranews]
