JUANDA International Airport has implemented a new flow of domestic flight passenger arrivals at Terminal 1 starting August 2023 in order to provide a better quality of service-to-service users.
According to the General Manager of Juanda International Airport, Sisyani Jaffar said, previously the arrival area for airplane passengers in Juanda was only in one location, namely west of the Terminal. But now the passenger arrival area has been added to one more location on the east side.
He explained, the current condition of all domestic flights landing at Terminal 1 is indeed only on the west side and serving approximately 110 arrival flights per day operated by 9 airlines. For this reason, we are trying to unravel the arrival area by operating the east side of Terminal 1.
Sisyani remarked this policy would be carried out in stages, and in the first stage, this new flow of arrivals would be for Garuda Indonesia airline passengers, which have around 7 flights per day. The new arrival area has been equipped with 3 baggage conveyor belts and there will be additional supporting services such as tenants and ground transportation booking counters.
“In the arrival area 1A there are also 78 parking lots for 4-wheeled vehicles and a pick-up zone area so that passengers who have arrived or landed can easily go to the pick-up vehicles,” he added.
Juanda Airport has also equipped markings and directions or signs to guide motorists to the east side of the arrival terminal area. The sign says arrival area 1A for the east side and 1B for the west side.
“This 1A arrival has operational as of August 1 for the arrival of Garuda Indonesia domestic passengers. Apart from Garuda airlines, passengers will continue to be served on 1B or the west as it is currently,” he said.
Gradually, added Sisyani, Juanda Airport will carry out an evaluation, because it is planned that there will be 2 other airlines that will be moved to arrival area 1A in the east later. [sources/photo special]
