EUROPE is a popular tourist destination in the winter period from December to February. Countries like Switzerland, Iceland and Austria are widely visited because they offer snowy holidays. DiscoverCars.com, the international car rental company, has announced its annual ranking of the best winter holiday destinations in Europe, and Krakow has topped the rankings for the third year in a row.
The old Polish town is filled with underground bars, so tourists can relieve the melancholy that comes with the season. The city also offers a lot of Eastern European history that is interesting to know.
According to research, Krakow has very low car and hotel rental costs, as well as 665 affordable restaurants. What is more, the price of a pint (1 pint is about 0.5 liters) is much cheaper, only £1.95 (around IDR37 thousand).
Prague is the second-best winter destination in Europe, only slightly behind Krakow with a score of 37 out of 50 (Krakow scores 38). The Czech capital boasts an astonishing 1,206 cheap places to eat and also scores well for its accommodation options and cheap flights.
In third place is Brussels, which ranks highly thanks to the many free attractions on offer, including the stunning Grand Place. Flights to the Belgian capital from London Heathrow are also the cheapest on the list, averaging around £98 (IDR1.9 million).
