THE JAKARTA Coffee Week (Jacoweek) 2023 event, an annual celebration of Indonesian coffee culture, will be held again on 3 to 5 November 2023 at Hall 10 of the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang, Banten.
Entering its 8th year, Jacoweek 2023, which is supported by Bank Mandiri, carries the theme ‘Past, Present, Future’ which will take visitors on a journey through the history of coffee, delve into the world of coffee today, and imagine the future of coffee.
“Through the theme ‘Past, Present, Future’, we hope that visitors who attend will be able to flashback to the past and see what has gone through to make coffee develop and exist today, and also see a picture of coffee in the future – through a historical exhibition coffee and several interesting experiences,” said Jakarta Coffee Week Co-Founder Hendri Kurniawan in a recent press release.
Jacoweek has become a strategic meeting platform for coffee industry players with a one-stop shopping solution concept that presents various activities around coffee as well as food and drinks directly for coffee-loving consumers.
Hendri said that the event’s large location allows for more participation from various parties, from coffee connoisseurs, baristas, to local and international coffee brands. In fact, he said, coffee farmers from various regions in Indonesia will gather on one platform.
During Jacoweek 2023, visitors can see firsthand the “Nyete” activity, namely the ancient tradition of painting cigarette sticks with coffee grounds. Apart from that, there are experience sharing sessions with current coffee industry players, both from within the country and abroad.
The spirit of sustainability of the coffee industry in the future (coffee for sustainability) is also a concern, including how coffee grounds can be used as a useful ingredient to make useful products.
Jacoweek 2023 itself will feature more than 200 brands related to coffee and tea, both local and international, including award winners, coffee experts, manufacturers and distributors of coffee and tea machines, as well as coffee farmers from all over Indonesia.
Another interesting thing at Jacoweek is the annual competition which offers excitement. This year, there are three interesting competition categories, including Tarung Tiga, VNT Roasting Challenge, and Jacoweek Cup of the Year.
Jacoweek 2023 has full support from Bank Mandiri. This support is realized through the Livin’ by Mandiri super app, which makes transactions easier for all participants and visitors.
Vice President of Bank Mandiri, Utaminingsih Udjang believes that Jacoweek 2023 will be a positive catalyst for the local and international coffee industry, as well as being a bridge for the prosperity of coffee farmers and other coffee industry players in Indonesia.
“In our role as an official partner, Bank Mandiri is very happy to be able to help facilitate banking access which helps all transaction processes at Jakarta Coffee Week 2023,” said Utaminingsih.
He added, through this event, Bank Mandiri hopes that Jacoweek 2023 will be able to provide a forum for establishing deeper connections for the coffee community and increasing Indonesia’s economic growth.
Toffin Indonesia, which has been a permanent tenant of Jacoweek since 2016, is optimistic that the Jacoweek event can develop into more than just a coffee event.
“By regularly taking part in this event, we see the huge potential of Jacoweek as an event platform that is eagerly awaited by coffee industry players because here, they can meet directly with experts, starting from machines and raw materials,” said Head of Marketing Toffin Indonesia Ario Fajar.
