INDONESIA will host two international events resulting from the collaboration of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy with UN Tourism (UNWTO) which will take place throughout 2024.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno after a meeting with the Director of the Regional Department for Asia and the Pacific at UN Tourism, Harry Hwang, on the sidelines of a series of activities at the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2024, Friday (01/26), 2024, said that with the total contribution from the tourism sector which is already above 10% globally, UN Tourism wants to partner more closely with Indonesia.
“This year, almost every month we have engagement with UN Tourism, and we have succeeded in presenting two international events with UN Tourism,” said Sandiaga at the Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel, Vientiane, Laos.
The first event is the “Indonesia Tourism Investment Forum” which will take place in Jakarta in the middle of the year. While the second is “The Regional Conference on Woman Empowerment in Tourism” in Bali.
“This is interesting, because we succeeded in gaining the trust to host The Regional Conference on Woman Empowerment in Tourism. So, we will develop the role of great women and extraordinary women in the tourism sector,” said Sandiaga.
This two-day conference will be a connecting space between innovation and collaboration, bringing together leading figures from both the public and private sectors to discuss the link between digital advances and sustainable tourism practices.
This conference is not only a discussion forum but also a stepping stone for taking concrete steps and progress in the field of global tourism.
“Indonesia, as a member of the UNWTO Executive Council, is a leader who is highly regarded and whose input is awaited in every development in the world of tourism, especially regarding green tourism and sustainable tourism,” Sandiaga remarked.
It is hoped that the implementation of international events in Indonesia with UN Tourism will have a broad impact on the development of tourism and the country’s creative economy. [traveltext.id]
