ITALY, Switzerland, India, and many more countries in the world have luxury trains that bring tourists to amazing tourist destinations. Not wanting to lose, Saudi Arabia will also launch its first five -star train Dream of the Desert in 2025.
The train project was built by Arsenale Group, an Italian company that manages Soho House Rome, Santavene Maratea Hotel, Orient Express La Dolce Vita and many more, collaborating with Saudi Arabia Railways. The 200 million SAR project (around Rp841 billion) will become a new era of tourism in the royal country in the Middle East.
Cross the desert
As the name suggests, the Dream of Desert will bring tourists to realize the dream of crossing the desert and cities in Saudi Arabia along 1,300 kilometers. The journey starts from Riyadh, crossing the hail, and ends in Qurayyat. The one-to-two-day travel routes planned to pass through Al Qassim, Hail and Al Jouf, on the edge of Raja Salman Bin Abdulaziz’s nature reserve, before ending about 20 miles from the border with Jordan.
This train is designed with inspiration from the style and tradition of Saudi. There will be 40 luxury cabins facilitated with all needs along the tour. The maximum capacity of this train is 82 passengers.
The concept behind the first luxury train in Saudi Arabia is to mimic extreme railroad glamorous such as Seven Stars in Kyushu, Japan, and Venice Simplon-Orient Express which operates between London and Venice.
This railroad network will be expanded throughout Saudi Arabia, passing all the main tourist destinations in the kingdom. For tourists who want to try out this train, the reservation has been opened at the end of 2024, according to local media Asharq Al-Awsat.
Dream of the Desert is one of the many developments in Saudi Arabia to achieve its ambition to become the leading tourist destination in the world. They are targeting to attract 150 million visitors at the end of this decade. Last year, Saudi Arabia announced the construction of hotels and resorts in many royal areas, starting from Alaula, ancient Oasis city near Hegra Sandstone Monument; to the Red Sea Coast and the islands; Sindalah Island, part of Gigaproject Neom; and historic settlements.
