INDONESIA (RI) through the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is once again present to greet the Indian market by participating in one of the largest international tourism exchanges in India, namely the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) on 8-10 February 2024 at the Jio World Convention Center, Mumbai.
According to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, in his statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (02/07), 2024, explained that the number of foreign tourists visiting from India after the pandemic continues to show a positive trend. India ranks 6th as the country with the highest number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia and 2nd in Bali (after Australia) in the 2023 period.
India is one of the potential foreign tourist markets for Indonesia. According to data released by BPS, up to November 2023 the number of Indian foreign tourists visiting Indonesia last year reached 541,567 tourists. This means that the number of Indian tourists in 2023 will increase by 148% from the previous year in the same period (January-November 2022).
“For our international promotion strategy, we focus on promoting our main tourism markets, including India with its extraordinary growth in foreign tourist visits to Indonesia. This increase in the number of foreign tourists is also accompanied by an increase in the length of stay of tourists, so that it will open up more business opportunities, especially in the tourism and creative economy sectors, as well as creating new quality jobs,” said Sandiaga.
OTM Mumbai is a tourism exhibition that focuses on outbound travel. This participation is the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy’s first promotional activity in India in 2024.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, through the Wonderful Indonesia brand, this time raised the theme “Keep the Wonder” with designs of Borobudur, Prambanan and Yogyakarta in its pavilion as a form of Kemenparekraf’s consistency in promoting 5 Super Priority Destinations (DSP).
Two tourism industries participating as official partners of the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion at OTM 2024 are Marriott Indonesia and Atlas Beach Club. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also collaborates with 25 selected tourism industry players, consisting of travel agents/tour operators, DMCs, hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions.
Meanwhile, Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, said that currently Bali is still top of mind for Indian tourists in the family, honeymoon, wedding and MICE segments.
Apart from promoting Bali and the 5 DSPs, Ni Made added that his party will promote destinations in Indonesia to be offered as filming locations to players in the Indian film industry.
“We know that the Indian film industry is very large, and Indonesia has various destinations with natural beauty and cultural uniqueness that are very interesting to be used as filmmaking locations. Apart from that, a good ecosystem has also been formed, namely the Indonesia Film Facilitation (IFFa) platform which will make it easier for Indian filmmakers to access interesting locations in Indonesia,” Ni Made remarked.
She added that it is hoped that promotion of destinations through this film can introduce more Indonesian tourism destinations in India and encourage visits by tourists from India to Indonesia.
Apart from that, Ni Made concluded, to target the quite large luxury travel segment in India, Indonesian tourism industry players have also prepared tour packages in a number of priority destinations that suit the characteristics of luxury travelers from India. [traveltex.id]
