PT ANGKASA Pura Indonesia or InJourney Airports targets to become the second largest airport operator in the world by 2045. Since its formation on December 28, 2023, InJourney Airports has occupied the position of fifth largest airport operator in the world.
According to the President Director of InJourney Airports, Faik Fahmi, the integration of Angkasa Pura I and Angkasa Pura II which gave birth to InJourney Airports not only strengthens the company’s position in the eyes of the world, but also becomes the largest airport operator with a potential valuation of US$8 billion in 2045 based on passenger traffic.
“For this reason, InJourney Airports is here to be a solution in facing the challenges of the Indonesian aviation and tourism industry,” said Faik Fahmi in a recent press release.
Faik explained that various challenges in the aviation industry include airports that are not yet integrated, traffic imbalance, low utilization, less than optimal aircraft operations, small airports that are underutilized, transit overflying that is not yet optimal, unbalanced investment, financial conditions, capital participation or capex that is high, management patterns, complex ecosystem coordination, and limited aircraft.
Therefore, InJourney Airports is here to answer these challenges by carrying out its main mission, namely increasing air connectivity, supporting the growth of Indonesian tourism, improving airport financial performance, as well as increasing the coverage and speed of air logistics and improving customer service.
InJourney Airports manages 35 airports covering the West to East regions of Indonesia. With this number of airports, InJourney Airports serves 615 domestic routes and 192 international routes with an airport capacity of at least 217 million passengers.
With a strength of 35 airports managed by the company, InJourney Airports can be said to be the face of the Indonesian nation. Based on Air Transport statistical data in 2019, InJourney Airports served around 170.45 million passengers or 88.5% of total passenger traffic at all airports in Indonesia.
Through the challenges and solutions provided, InJourney Airports is expected to provide maximum benefits for all stakeholders, including government, society and the InJourney Group ecosystem.
For the government, InJourney Airports can increase the contribution to state income through dividends and support the achievement of the “10 New Balis” vision. For the ecosystem, InJourney Airports can reach a global scale, namely as number 5 largest airport operator in the world in 2023 and number 2 largest in 2045, increasing profitability, integrated financial sources and positions, as well as efficient collaboration in the aviation ecosystem.

At the same time, Faik Fahmi also conveyed the company’s achievement targets during the 2024 Eid post. During the implementation of the Eid post on April 3-18 2024, Faik projected that the 35 airports managed by InJourney Airports would serve 7.97 million passengers. The passenger target is an increase of 10% compared to the realization in 2023 of 7.22 million passengers.
InJourney Airports also predicts that during this year’s Eid post there will be 57,778 aircraft movements, an increase of 7% compared to the realization of aircraft movements at the 2023 Eid post which reached 54,193 movements.
Meanwhile, cargo movements are targeted to reach 51,200 tons at the 2024 Eid post, an increase of 18% compared to the 2023 Eid post which reached 43,550 tons of movement. A total of 35 airports managed by the company also proposed 2,470 additional flights (extra flights) which will be at 14 airports served by 12 airlines consisting of 9 national airlines and 3 foreign airlines.
InJourney Airports has also listed 6 airports that will operate 24 hours, namely I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Bali, Sultan Hasanuddin Airport Makassar, Sam Ratulangi Airport Manado, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Cengkareng, Kuala Namu Airport Medan, and Halim Perdanakusuma Airport Jakarta with all airports 24-hour standby operation based on flight operator request.
InJourney Airports predicts that the three busiest airports during the 2024 Eid post period will be Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, and Surabaya’s Juanda Airport.
