THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy, presented the latest data from the results of a survey calculating the impact of holding the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) 2024 on the tourism and creative economy sectors during its implementation in Bali on May 18-25, 2024.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in “The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno”, Monday (06/03), 2024, the results were that the average length of stay of tourists, namely delegates, was 8 days, with foreign delegates 8.7 days. longer than the Indonesian delegation, namely 7.1 days.
“From a survey conducted by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy together with the Economic Research Center for Industry, Services and Trade (BRIN), it is known that the average expenditure per visit is IDR38.8 million or US$2,427. The highest expenses are for accommodation, participation fees, food and beverages, and domestic flights. This means that they (the delegation) also went to several destinations after leaving Bali,” Sandiaga said.
He explained that the survey was conducted on 446 respondents with a margin of error of 5% and a confidence level of 95%. Of this number, it is also known that the majority, more than 90% of respondents, plan to visit Bali again and recommend Bali as a tourist and business destination.
“The implementation of the 2024 World Water Forum will also have an impact on Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), especially those located around the venue or within a 1.4-kilometer radius. There has been an increase in sales volume and turnover in the range of 21 to 50%,” he said.
Minister Sandiaga added that this World Water Forum not only improves the economy, but also promotes local wisdom and culture in managing our water on the international stage.
Sandiaga further revealed that it was felt that holding the 2024 World Water Forum had been able to stimulate national economic activity, both Bali as the host and national economic activity.
“National economic activity increased by 0.374% during the 2024 World Water Forum and totaled IDR1.38 trillion and employment (absorption) was around 10,479 people. The success of this event again shows Bali as an international class Meeting, Incentives, Convention & Exhibition (MICE) destination,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
