“TCEB’s strategic plan (2024-2025) focuses on quality MICE experiences, city collaboration and workforce development, firmly positioning Thailand as a competitive and sustainable business events destination,” he said.
But when he was asked, what’s kind of “magic” of TCEB’s workforce for international MICE events? He answered directly that for TCEB to partner with International and Indonesian professional associations to attract as many international events as possible to Thailand.
“Our efforts also Thailand is now pulling out all the stops to become the epicenter of MICE tourism in Southeast Asia. At present, TCEB operates the MICE Lane, which is an exclusive service of TCEB that provides immigration service through a special lane. MICE Lane efficiently welcomes MICE travelers at 2 major airports, including Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang International Airport,” said Puripan Bunnag.
He explained that in order to respond to the government’s policy, TCEB has planned to extend the MICE Lane service to 4 major airports in fiscal year 2024 (October 2023-September 2024): Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang International Airport, Chiang Mai International Airport, Phuket International Airport to promote the impression of choosing Thailand as a host country for international conventions and exhibitions.
“The government has a policy to promote MICE in order to boost the economy, generate revenue in each region and make Thailand a quality travel destination. In this regard, we have developed strategies to boost our regional economies and MICE cities.
Each region, he continued, has been positioned for a particular economy based on its potential and foundation, such as creative economy for the North, bio-farming for the Northeast, high-quality global tourism for the South, including the development of smart cities and special economic zones along the border areas.
“The other two are the 2026 and 2029 editions of the International Horticultural Exposition in Udon Thani and Nakhon Ratchasima, respectively,” Puripan Bunnag added.
