MINISTRY PROMOTES BALI PAREKRAF INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN SINGAPORE

INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy presented investment opportunities in tourism and creative economy (parekraf) in Bali in the Bank of Singapore Forum.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga when giving a speech at the forum held at The Apurva Kempinski Bali, Thursday (10/17), 2024 said the tourism sector showed an extraordinary recovery for Indonesia. In 2023, as many as 11.7 million foreign tourists visited Indonesia.

“Tourist spending has almost doubled. The average revenue per visit has reached 45 to 50% since the COVID-19 pandemic. This is influenced by the shift in the tourism paradigm from one based on quantity to one based on quality,” Sandiaga said.

He explained that Bali, once known for sun, sea and sand, is now better known for serenity, spirituality and sustainability. The investment opportunities offered by Indonesia, and Bali in particular, are green investments. Where investment development in Bali is currently focused on health and fitness tourism located in the Sanur Special Economic Zone (KEK) and the Bali Kura-kura Special Economic Zone (KEK).

“Later, these two KEKs will also be allocated for various sports tourism activities to creative events. And we see Bali as one of the potential markets for family offices,” said Sandiaga.

A family office is a financial advisory firm formed by an extended family to manage their wealth, providing various financial and management services, including investment management.

Of course, the initiative to introduce a family office in Bali will also benefit the Indonesian economy through increased domestic investment. The value of investment in Indonesia’s tourism and creative economy sector itself has reached US$1.58 million by mid-2024. This figure is expected to grow to 38.3%.

“And the KEK is directed to welcome several of these family offices. We are also trying to provide tax reduction incentives and other non-tax incentives. This policy easing is something that is in the process. Hopefully, with this forum, it will open up more opportunities for investment in Indonesia,” Sandiaga concluded. [traveltext.id]
