THE MINISTER of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Erick Thohir, is ready to bring convenience to people who wish to travel during the Christmas and New Year holidays in 2024 and 2025, by reducing the price of airline tickets by 10%.
Erick emphasised that the reduction in ticket prices was the result of a strong synergy between the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and the Ministry of Transportation, as well as the full support of President Prabowo Subianto.
“We greatly appreciate President Prabowo’s direction and support in the effort to reduce air ticket prices. This is a real step to help the community and encourage the growth of national tourism,” Erick said through a statement in Jakarta, Monday (12/02) 2024.
At the Cabinet Plenary Meeting at the Cabinet Meeting Room, Presidential Palace, Jakarta, today, Prabowo asked his ministers to be able to maintain the condition of the aviation industry after the policy of reducing air ticket prices by 10% before the year-end holidays was implemented.
Prabowo said the policy of lowering the cost of air travel at the end of the year was the right policy, but the health of the industry still needed to be considered.
“Usually, prices go up at the end of the year or during the holidays. We can reduce airfares a little bit to help our community and people. But we are also vigilant that the reduction in airfares does not harm the aviation industry,” he said.
The President also advised the leaders of the Red and White Cabinet to strengthen cooperation to properly prepare security and all activities related to the year-end moments filled with Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025.
With this policy in the 100 days of Prabowo’s government, it is hoped that the public will be able to enjoy the Christmas and New Year holidays more affordably and comfortably, as well as increase confidence in the government’s management of the transport and tourism sectors.
